Ribbon Communications are a Gold Communications Partner of Microsoft, they have worked closely with Microsoft to certify their session border controllers (SBC) portfolio for Microsoft Phone System Direct Routing and Skype for Business. Changes to the Phone System are tested with Ribbon before their general availability. This collaboration leads to official support from Microsoft. Ribbon SBCs connect Microsoft Teams to SIP trunks, providing enterprises with a choice when purchasing a calling plan.
Ribbon boasts the largest portfolio of SBCs certified for Direct Routing for Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business. This includes both physical network appliances and virtual, software-only, SBCs. Theor SBCs have been found in some of the world’s largest carrier networks for decades. Their physical SBCs scale to 150,000 SIP sessions and the Software Edition (‘SWe’) has no defined upper limit. The SBCs can also be deployed in a multi-tenant environment, allowing you to take advantage of economies of scale. We offer tight integration with Microsoft offerings including Skype for Business Online connectivity, branch survivability and presence awareness of legacy endpoints. Polycom® VVX® phones can use a Ribbon SBC as a backup registrar to continue to make phone calls when there is a disruption to connection to the Skype for Business Server.
